The design and construction of Iran’s first atomic clock began in 2021 at the Laser and Plasma Research Institute of Shahid Beheshti University (SBU), thanks to the efforts of the university's researchers. This project, supported by the National Optics and Photonics Committee and the great community of SBU, led to the design and creation of hot atomic vapor cells for various applications. By examining the physics governing atomic clocks, the initial and primary signal of the atomic clock was registered at the university.
This signal, known as the primary response of microwave and atomic double resonance, indicates the sensitivity and precision of the Iranian atomic clock.
Dr. Seyedeh Mehri Hamidi, a faculty member at the Laser and Plasma Research Institute, Dr. Mohammad Mosleh, a postdoctoral researcher, and Mahnaz Asadollah Salmanpour, a PhD student at the Laser and Plasma Research Institute of SBU, are members of this research team in the magnetoplasmonics laboratory.
