Master's Program of Photonics

Guidelines for Master’s Students of Photonics

Total credits of master’s program: 28 credits (the minimum number of credits in one semester is 8 and the maximum is 12)
Students should go through the following in each semester:

 

First semester: 

  • Passing the courses (10 compulsory credits)
  • At the end of first semester: selection of supervisor and the project subject
  • Second semester:
  • Passing the courses (9 credits including 6 compulsory credits and 3 optional credits along with the project in consultation with the supervisor) and starting the preliminary work on the proposal and the project
  • At the end of second semester: obtaining the laser safety certificate and the permission to enter the lab

Summer: 

  • Working on the  proposal and the project
  • Late summer: filling in the proposal form and turning it in (the deadline for presenting this form is at the end of summer before the start of third semester.)

Third semester: 

  • Passing the remaining courses (3 optional credits along with the project in consultation with the supervisor) and starting  the work on the project and the approval of the proposal in the Council

Fourth semester:

  • Working on the project
  • Early summer: If needed, filling in the form of extending the master’s duration for the fifth semester
  • Late summer: the deadline for thesis defense: filling in the form of defense authorization three weeks before the proposed date)

Fifth semester:

  • The ultimate deadline for thesis defense (filling in the form of defense authorization three weeks before the proposed date)
  • At least, three weeks before the proposed date for defense, the form of defense authorization as well as the attached form of performance report of student in education years comprising the passed courses, papers, etc. must be turned in to the graduate office.
  • It is necessary to present a copy of thesis to the jury as well as Persian and English abstracts in order to study them.
